Double the Expertise, Standard Rates: How Fahey Machinery Is Revolutionizing Field Service

When it comes to keeping your shop floor running efficiently, reliable machinery service is the backbone of production. At Fahey Machinery, we saw an opportunity to bridge a major gap in how field service is delivered across our industry.

Historically, field service relied on individual technicians working independently. While that model worked in the past, we saw a chance to improve efficiency, turnaround times, and technical expertise. About a year ago, we shifted to a mentor/apprentice paired model, sending two-person teams on field calls together.

Here is why our expanding service model is a win for shop owners and fabricators throughout our region.

Two Technicians for the Price of One

The biggest advantage for our customers comes down to value and speed. When you book service or repair with Fahey Machinery, a paired mentor and apprentice arrive at your shop, but you are billed at our standard single-technician rate.

By putting two sets of hands on the job, we double the labor efficiency without increasing your service cost. While our senior technician diagnoses complex issues and directs strategy, our junior technician handles the physical work and execution. This team dynamic gets your machinery back in production significantly faster.

Internal benefits strengthen the team even further:

  • Knowledge Transfer: Our senior techs love teaching, while younger techs bring high energy to the physical demands of field work.
  • Support on the Road: Traveling for field service can be isolating; working in pairs keeps our techs safe, supported, and engaged.
  • Flexible Capacity: We currently have three senior technicians and two juniors, with another team member onboarding soon. While paired teams are our standard, we can easily split and reconfigure our fleet during peak service periods.

Deep Field Expertise: Legacy Repairs & Control Updates

While we handle occasional warranty work and new machine installations, the core of our daily work is servicing and maintaining older equipment directly in the field.

Fahey Machinery has been serving fabricators for decades, and we were one of the very first dealers for Accurpress, supporting their machines since the late 1980s and early 1990s. Thousands of aged press brakes, shears, and band saws are still hard at work across our territory, requiring specialized service to remain productive.

Our service capabilities include:

  • Legacy Equipment Repairs: Comprehensive mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting for aging press brakes, shears, and saws.
  • Control System Retrofits: Upgrading outdated CNC controls to modern systems, extending the life of your machines by years.
  • Replacement Parts & Upgrades: Sourcing parts and executing key hardware upgrades to keep older equipment operating safely.

Coverage Territory: Where We Service

Our service teams are equipped to travel wherever your job site demands. We currently provide field service coverage across:

  • Oregon
  • Washington
  • Idaho
  • Northern California
  • Alaska
  • Hawaii

Whether you need routine maintenance in the Pacific Northwest or an urgent control retrofit in Alaska or Hawaii, Fahey Machinery has you covered.
